Driver Information

1    Jacques Villeneuve     CAN  Williams Mecachrome
last years worldchampion, has proven in the indycars to be a great driver, but can't do much in his Williams this year. He is working very hard this year, but isn't getting many points.

2    Heinz-Harald Frentzen  GER  Williams Mecachrome
drove at Sauber till he could go to Williams. He is an enemy of Michael Schumacher, because Schumacher had stolen his girlfriend. Frentzen is a good driver, but he changes very good races with bad races.

3    Michael Schumacher     GER  Ferrari
He is the best driver. He started at Jordan and went to Benetton, he became worldchampion in 1994 and 1995. He went to Ferrari. Everyone is looking at him when they're choosing tyres. When it rains he wins for sure.

4    Eddie Irvine           GBR  Ferrari
He is very fast this year, but he stands in the shadow of Michael Schumacher. His style of driving is dangerous. It is winning or nothing. He is always trying to get past other drivers, even when there is no space.

5    Giancarlo Fisichella   ITA  Benetton Playlife
He is one of the many talented drivers. He is the hope of Italy. He started at Jordan. Last year he had proven to be very fast, but this year he is even slower than testdriver Jos Verstappen, so he is a bit disappointing.

6    Alexander Wurz         AUT  Benetton Playlife 
This young driver drives with to differend shoes one blue and the other red. He is also one of the talented drivers. He is proving this year to be a great driver by driving faster and calmer than Fisichella.

7    David Coulthard        GBR  McLaren Mercedes
He drove at Williams where he had a lot of bad luck. He went to Mclaren and drove an invisible year. The Mclaren is the fastest car and he won one race this year. He prove to be a gentleman by letting Hakkinen pass in Austalia.

8    Mika Hakkinen          FIN  McLaren Mercedes
The number one from this year with a lot victory's and poles. He has been working for a long time at Mclaren- Mercedes and this year everyone at Mclaren is getting payed for there great afford they put in the team.

 
9    Damon Hill             GBR  Jordan Mugen-Honda
He drove at Williams in their superior period. He became worldchampion in 1996. He asked to much money and went to Arrows. He only drove well at Hungary and this year he isn't driving well at Jordan. 

10    Ralf Schmacher         GER  Jordan Mugen-Honda
People expected to much from him, because his brother Michael is really a great driver. Ralf is very fast in the qualification, but isn't good at starting, so he loses a lot of places and in the race he doesn't drive many laps.

11    Olivier Panis          FRA  Prost Peugeot
He drove always at Ligier. The car was better last year and everyone thought he would win in France, but he crashed in Canada and couldn't drive for 4 months. He won in 1996 Monaco, when only 3 drivers reached the flag.
12    Jarno Trulli           ITA  Prost Peugeot
The young man had the difficult task of replacing Panis in the France home grand prix. He drove quite well, but couldn't do it as good as Panis would do, but he got a contract for next year.

14    Jean Alesi             FRA  Sauber Petronas
This driver was adviced to stop this year, after a dramatic season at Benetton. He still wanted to go on and he is driving great at Sauber this year. He has one victory: Canada 1996.

15    Johnny Herbert         GBR  Sauber Petronas
He is a good driver, with two victory's at Benetton. He came in 1997 to Sauber where he is driving very good. This year he finally got some competition at Sauber, with the coming of Jean Alesi

16    Pedro Diniz            BRA  Arrows
Has a lot of money to buy a seat in formula1 he came in 1997 to pay the money which they needed for getting worldchampion Damon Hill. He seemed to be a good driver to so he stayed at Arrows.

17    Mika Salo              FIN  Arrows
Good experienced driver, he can go very fast but the Arrows isn't the car to prove yourself to the greater teams. The Arrows has a bad engine with a lot of problems. So he doesn't finish a lot.

18    Rubens Barrichello     BRA  Stewart Ford
Good Brazilian driver with a lot of experience. He is good in the rain. His best ending position was last year at Monaco when he finished second. The new Stewart proved to be very fast, so maybe he can do something this year.

19    Jan Magnussen          DEN  Stewart Ford
One of the minor drivers in formula1. Has a good competitor in his team, so he looks slow. This year he even started a few times behind Rosset. Maybe the new car can give him something extra's this year.

20    Ricardo Rosset         BRA  Tyrrell Ford
The loser of formula1 he is very slow, but he has a lot of money and that is more important than talent at the minor teams so he now drives formula1. Sometimes he even doesn't qualify himself.

21    Toranosuke Takagi      JPN  Tyrrell Ford
Great talented driver, who is quick in qualification and stays in the race round that place. He has no competition in his team, so he can't show how good he actually is. I think we will see more of him in the future.

22    Shinji Nakano          JPN  Minardi Ford
Is an invisible driver no spectaculair crashes and great driving skills. He drove for different teams. He is a good motorrider, in 250cc he finishes high. His best position in 250cc is second.

23    Esteban Tuero          ARG  Minardi Ford
Young driver who doesn't make many mistakes. Wasn't the best driver for Minardi, but he has the most money so he is driving this year. He starts at place 19 or 20, but keeps driving so he finishes round place 12.
